Tales from the Tour 2016

Tales from the Tour for 2016 was amazing! A major thank you to Zach Johnson, Aaron Baddeley, Mark Wilson, and Champions Tour member Stan Utley.

A very special thanks to Jeffrey Cranford, president of Links Players International, who did a terrific job interviewing those men. Yes, lots of people have re-told Zach’s story about the Claret Jug and quoted Aaron’s “I don’t do any of that” line, but in addition to the great fun there was great depth and wisdom in these stories, and you’ll want to hear what they all had to say.

Thanks also to Frankie Capan, a young man who made a cameo appearance with us. Frankie is still in high school, but qualified to play in the 2016 Puerto Rico Open. (We can tell you now that he made a great showing there, shooting 73-71 in the first two rounds and missing the cut of -1 by a single shot against a very strong field. Remember, you saw him first at Tales from the Tour!)

Not only did Stan Utley sit on the panel, he led a great time of instruction. Known as a short-game guru, Stan is the number 1 ranked golf teacher in Arizona. With help from Indoor Golf Design who set up a simulator (very cool!), as well as the folks at The Golf Tank who supplied a putting green, Stan was able to give putting, chipping, and even full swing lessons right on stage. If you didn’t learn something, you still can by watching the video.

Mark Wilson, with no warm-up and wearing street clothes, showed us his full swing and shared the things he has been working on during the winter on his simulator at his home in Chicago. What a treat!

The event was held in the auditorium of Scottsdale Bible Church, and we cannot express the depth of our gratitude to the entire staff for their hard work and support. If you happen to be looking for a church, you should definitely consider Scottsdale Bible.

Just below we have several videos from the evening. We segmented them so that they are only four or five minutes each. Watch the ones you want or watch them all.

Thanks again to the entire panel, to Indoor Golf Design, to The Golf Tank, to Scottsdale Bible, and to the many volunteers who helped make this event come to life. We are already looking forward to next year!
